Lovebirds
1.) lovebirds: a pair of lovers, especially a married couple who show very close mutual love and concern.
2.) The legend of Sadako Sasaki is a story of a grateful crane in Japanese folklore, where a crane, rescued from a trap, later returns in the form of a beautiful woman to repay the kindness.
The senbazuru legend, meaning "one thousand cranes," is a core element of this story. It suggests that folding 1,000 cranes will fulfill a wish, which is why many Japanese people and children use paper cranes as a symbol of hope and healing.
The Idea behind the composition was to create an image that was both visually dynamic and symbolically rich. The wings are almost touching, close enough to form a connection/a conversation, posturing their body language side by side one another and creating a mirror of sorts. The wings visually have a dual nature to them. The weight of an average bird wing is under a pound. The Wings in this piece measure around 5 feet each and are completely surrounded by a color background. My intentions were to make them appear as if they were floating by these compositional choices.
Bird wings are often associated with freedom, spirituality, transcendence and the power of flight. In many cultures, wings symbolize the ability to transcend earthly limitations and reach higher states of consciousness. They can also represent messages from the divine or spiritual realms, a link between the earthly and the celestial. Other forms include lightness, imagination, and the pursuit of dreams. In creation myths, they appear as messengers of the gods, and in stories about the souls journey after death.
